The Union education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan has launched the national digital library, February 10, 2024 at the New Delhi World Book Fair 2024. He was invited for the inauguration ceremony of the world book fair at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan.
According to the official press release, the national digital library will promote and foster a love of lifelong reading among students, as well as provide diverse literature options such as fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and biographies, among others, to cater to different reading preferences and assist students in exploring diverse types of literature in their preferred language.
The national e-library will also promote critical thinking and imagination, which may assist students in developing and improving their creativity and analytical abilities, as well as supporting literacy and language development in children and adolescents via engagement with books outside of their academic courses. It will expose students to literature in Indian and foreign languages, as well as build and promote cultural awareness, patriotism, and empathy, with the goal of achieving Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
